About the District

Pherzawl District was created on 8th December 2016 by carving out 3(three) Sub- Divisions , viz, Thanlon , Tipaimukh and Vangai Range from Churachandpur District vide Govt. order no. 16/20/2016-R dated 8th December 2016 along with 6 new District viz. Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Kamjong, Kakching, Noney and Jiribam. The District was Inaugurated on 16.12.2016. The District Headquarters is Pherzawl. It has 99 villages comprising of 46 villages in Thanlon Sub-Division, 35 villages in Vangai Range Sub-Division and 18 villages in Tipaimukh Sub-Division.

The total Area of the District is 2,285 Sq. Km. bordering Tamenglong District in the North, Mizoram State in South, Churachandpur District in the East and Cachar(Assam) in the West. National Highway -150 connects Thanlon and Tipaimukh while Imphal-Jiri Road connects Vangai Range via Imphal.
